is interest from the Chinese Super League and Rooney has not ruled out a
return to Everton, but says he will not play for any other English team
Wayne Rooney has revealed that he is close to making a decision over his future and has not ruled out a return to Everton.
Manchester
United's all-time top scorer is almost certain to leave Old Trafford
this summer after 13 years, with Wednesday's late appearance as a
substitute in the
Europa League final likely to be his last competitive game for the club.
Rooney,
31, confirmed that he has received a number of offers and has 'more or
less' decided on his next move. He will make a final decision in the
next couple of weeks after speaking to his family on holiday.
The player's agent Paul Stretford
travelled to Beijing in February and there is understood to be strong
interest in China, as well as in the Premier League and Major League
Soccer.
'There's lots of offers on the
table, both in England and abroad, and really that's what I have to
decide on,' said Rooney, whose final appearance in a United shirt is
likely to be Michael Carrick's testimonial next week.
Asked
how he will work out the decision, he replied: 'No, I know. As the
manager said before, he wants me to stay, but… I just have to make a
decision in terms of a football decision, and that's what I'll do. I'll
do that the next few weeks with my family while I'm away.'
